I would just like to take this opportunity to thank you for building our new home at Biddeford Pool! Despite all of the difficult challenges, the construction design, the winter weather, the tight deadline and the financial constraints, Douston Construction, Inc. did an excellent job building our house! ! !

Our family would highly recommend Douston Construction to anyone who is interested in building a large architecturally-designed home for the following reasons:

Construction - The design of our house as conceptualized by Salmon Falls Architecture made actual construction anything but simple. This is particularly true with the many peaks and valleys of the roof - 17 if! I am not mistaken - and the additional construction material that was required for meeting the wind load requirements at the beach. Douston Construction made building the house look simple. Throughout the entire construction process there were no issues and the construction stage went off without a hitch as confirmed by the surprise inspection performed by Salmon Falls Architecture.

Time Frame - While six months seems like a long time to build a house, when building in the middle a wind tunnel at Biddeford Pool in the dead of winter, that is no easy task. There were days when the crew could not work at all or only for a short time. So in effect, Douston Construction was able to build a 2,800 square foot house in less than six months. In addition, with only six weeks left, we had to move the schedule up another week and Douston Construction was able to re-deploy the crew in such a way to meet the earlier deadline. We are grateful that we were able to meet the deadline and we appreciate your dedication and hard work!!!!

Budget - For our family, this house cost more than we really wanted to spend and Douston Construction worked with us to find ways that would allow us to save money

Without losing the look and the integrity of the house. We appreciate the assistance that Dave Wagor gave us for saving money on this project.

Crew - Both the construction crew as managed by Butch Rush and the finish crew as managed by Bill Lafreniere did an excellent job in coordinating the crews in a very professional and business like manner. Both Butch and Bill understand that the construction business is a service-oriented business and they both went out of their way to assist in anyway that they could for us. Even when Dave Wagor, the project manager, was on vacation, Butch made the process seamless.

David Wagor - Project Manager - Dave did an excellent job managing the project from start to finish and was very easy to work with throughout the entire process. In effect, Dave was an orchestra conductor who made sure that everyone was playing their part with perfect timing and in perfect sequence. Dave was always available and would do anything to assist us in anyway possible. As the family liaison for Douston
Construction, I personally enjoyed working with Dave and I would highly recommend Dave as the project manager for any job large or small.

Room for Improvement - As constructive criticism, which in no way diminishes our recommendation there could be some improvement with respect to building choices. For example, we had difficulty choosing hardwood floors. First, we were told to go to Lavalley Lumber, but they did not have any samples to look at, and then Lavalley Lumber told us to go to their wholesaler. When we arrived at the wholesaler, they told us that they do not work with the public. So all in all we had quite a run around in terms of buying the hardwood floors. Our recommendation would be that Douston Construction develops a better sample room on site to make choices or that there is a particular day that Douston Construction goes with us to the different suppliers to assist in making choices.

Shawn, again thank you for all of your assistance and hard work throughout the entire project. We enjoyed working with you. I cannot think of a better way to give you a compliment than to say if we were ever going to sell our house, we would say "Built by Douston Construction." (Just to let you know, after all of my efforts, this house is never going to be sold!!!!!)
