When we set out to find a builder for our new house, we were nervous-there is no doubt that there is an entourage of horror stories about incomplete projects, overlooked details, and unreturned phone calls in the contracting/building business. However, our experience with Douston Construction was very different. The day that Shawn came to see my husband and I to look over our house plans and set up a budget, we were a bit taken off guard. Shawn was extremely attentive to the details we wanted, and very sensitive to the needs of our budget. I must add, that the house had some quirky details that other builders dismissed and said could be eliminated (even though we very much wanted these details included) and that our budget was very tight (Shawn assured us we could find ways to save money without compromising the integrity of the design or quality of the house). It sounded too good to be true.
We expected that the building budget would be far beyond the means of which we could afford. But Shawn was true to his word and found creative ways for Mike and I to stay within our budget. Then we figured this must have cost us a loss of the architectural details we so loved about our house plans. Again, we were surprised to find the details were included. (Shawn was the first builder we had talked to that had even remembered and respected them!)

Now came the time for Mike and I to make a decision of who was going to build the house. We considered the fact that the staff at Douston was always there at the office when we called, or able to call us back promptly. The staff at Douston was extremely professional and courteous and friendly. They had a solid understanding of what Mike and I desired in our house and the look we were going for. So it was easy to choose Douston for the job.

Once again, we sat back and waited for the horror stories to start happening but once again we were surprised. The building process started as planned. The builders continued to be professional and friendly when we stopped by to see how things were progressing. Every part of the process moved along on schedule and we were well informed of the steps along the way. Wow. We didn't expect that! Where other people told us horror stories of how their houses were built, Mike and I only had good things to say about Douston.

Not only did the house come together beautifully, it was built on schedule! (Thank you Douston, since we were living with family while our house was being built. To put it politely, we were eager to move into our new home ASAP).

Now, I have to admit I am writing this reference a year after our house was built. I hop this works in Doustons favor. Our house is still amazing. We still love it. We still don' have any horror stories to add to everyone else's.

There is no doubt we would recommend Douston to anyone. Building our new home was an amazing experience. It was even pleasant. Not many people can say that! Thanks Douston-to each and every staff along the way.
